Vail Resorts just announced opening dates for its resorts. Keystone kicks off the season’s festivities by opening in October (as soon as its state-of-the-art automated snow-making system gets rolling), followed by the rest of the resorts, depending on conditions.

Work Nears Completion
Work steadily continues this summer as the Eagle Valley Trail inches closer to completion, now down to the last 12 miles. The Eagle Valley Trail is a bike-pedestrian route that extends 63 miles across Eagle Country, Colorado. It starts at the top of Vail Pass before winding its way west through Vail to Minturn then Edwards and finally landing in Eagle (no pun intended).

You’re halfway done, congratulations. For a complicated project like the one you have been working on for more than 18 years, that’s a serious accomplishment. And a good reason to celebrate as work finished on the trail segment connecting the town of Truckee, CA, to Northstar Drive. It also signified an important milestone, the halfway point to completing the Resort Triangle Trail (RTT).
Annual Avalanche Report Shows Colorado and Montana Have the Highest Rates of Avalanche Fatalities
The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center’s (GNFAC) annual avalanche report was recently released. It shows Colorado to have the highest number of avalanche fatalities over the last ten years (64). Montana was ranked 2nd with 33—still six higher than the national average of 27.
